In cases when the EU citizens will acquire their professional qualifications in the UK after the withdrawal of the UK from the EU, the Professional qualifications Recognition Act no. 18/2004 Coll. will no longer apply to them because their qualifications were not acquired in an EU country. The agreement regarding future relations between the UK and the EU is beeing negotiated during the transition period. The procedure that will regulate mutual recognition of professional qualifications will be dependent on the existence and content of such agreement. Regarding this, the Czech Republic would prefer if the currrent state was preserved in the broadest possible scope. This could be achieved eg. through the Agreement about the accesion of the UK to the Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of professional qualifications.
