The purpose of the minister’s journey is to present the Czech priorities in the field of education, which were designed for the Presidency of the Council of the EU. The key priority Partnership between educational institutions and employers is aimed at supporting employability of all persons and addressing future needs of employers in the global socio-economic trends. "Streamlining of cooperation between educational institutions and employers is a way to improve the situation on the labour market," stresses Ondřej Liška. "They must not be two isolated worlds. In several sectors the cooperation already exists, but as a whole the potential for cooperation is not fully exploited. Of course we do not want to change the educational institutions into a production line of enterprises. This relationship must be mutually beneficial."
With this priority Ministry of Education wants to draw the attention to the importance of cooperation between the education and employers and to stimulate discussion among the partners. Minister Liška therefore meets with Commissioner Günter Verheugen and Vladimir Špidla, Director General Odile Quintin and representatives of stakeholders at European level such as BusinessEurope, Eurochambres, European Association of Craft, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (UEAPME), etc.
In the European Parliament Minister Liška discusss with MEPs the ways to remove the persisting barriers and to find the motivation aspects for cooperation of schools and employers or how to promote this cooperation during the Czech presidency at the European level. Last but not least, Minister Liška attends along with Director General Odile Quintin strategic debate with representatives of students, young entrepreneurs, educational institutions and employers on the issue of promoting mutual cooperation between the sphere of education and employers.
September meeting will be followed by a similar meeting in November where the discussions with European partners will continue.
