The Czech Republic is a member country of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (hereinafter “JINR”), an international research organisation focused on experimental and theoretical research in the field of elementary particle physics, nuclear physics and condensed matter physics. The more detailed information about the JINR and its core facilities can be found on the website www.jinr.ru. Czech participation in JINR activities is coordinated by the Committee for cooperation of the Czech Republic with Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (www.sujv.cz) (hereinafter “Committee”), through which cooperation can be established.
The projects shall relate to the research areas included in the draft of the Topical plan for JINR Research and International Cooperation, which can be found under the following link:
Draft JINR_Topical_Plan_2022_(eng)
It must also meet at least one of the following requirements:
- The project approaches at a higher level or to a greater extent than before the tasks currently being solved in the JINR; these are mainly tasks in which the Czech staff is involved.
- The project addresses a task related to the activities of the JINR in an JINR member country.
- The project addresses a task in a non-member country in which both the JINR and the home site have an interest.
- The project develops the infrastructure of the domestic workplaces, which will be clearly oriented towards cooperation with JINR.
Proposals for new projects should be submitted in English on the following form “Application form 3+3 2022”.
Leaders of the projects that are approved for more than 1 year with the start date of the project in 2020 or 2021 shall submit an interim report in 2021 with possible refinements for 2022 on the form “interim report 3plus3 2021”. This form serves also as the application for funding for 2022 and without its proper submission, the project cannot be funded.
Proposals and project reports are assessed by the “Commission 3+3” composed of representatives of the JINR and Czech research institutes. The conclusions of the Commission are discussed by the Committee, which makes recommendations on the projects to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS), including a proposal for the duration of the project and the allocation of funds. The following criteria are taken into account:
- the importance of the project for the development of cooperation between the Czech Republic and the JINR;
- the scientific level of the project.
The funds are allocated from the budget of the JINR and the final allocation is subject to the approval of the JINR Directorate. The results will be published on the website of the MEYS and the Committee in the form of an order of the Director of the JRC, including: the names of the applicants, the title of the project and the amount allocated.
Note: Project proposals and reports will be submitted to the members of the Committee for Cooperation of the Czech Republic with JINR and to the “Commission 3+3” (personal data as specified in the proposal will be forwarded to this advisory body of the MEYS and the international organisation). In the case of successful proposals, the following data will be forwarded to the JINR: names of applicants, institution, project title and proposed amount; the results of the competition will be published in this scope. The personal data provided will be handled in accordance with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports’ Personal Data Processing Policy.
