YOUTH CENTRES

Youth centres offer leisure time activities to all age groups of children and youth, and arrange activities for adults and seniors, as well. They organise both regular activities for constant groups of participants and open long-term or single activities, courses and other educational activities, camps, spontaneous activities, open clubs, educational projects for schools, adaptation programmes as part of prevention of socio-pathological phenomena and a range of other activities.

Youth centres provide the participants of leisure-based education, and eventually also schools and educational facilities, with methodical, expert and material assistance. The youth centres generally carry on their activities throughout the school year, including the school holidays. They are also involved in community planning, participation, prevention, educators’ training etc. The majority of youth centres have become a natural centre of the community’s social life. They take part in various regional, national and European projects, organise exchange programmes, stays abroad and internships of staff.

In school year 2012/2013 the youth centres reached the number of 310. Their activities were ensured by 14,5 thousand of educators and they were attended by a total number of 268,4 thousand participants.
