The Fifth Intergovernmental Consultation on Cooperation in the Field of Science and Technology between Japan and the Czech Republic took place on 8th and 9th June 2023 at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic.
The Consultation was co-chaired by Ms. KAJI Misako, the Ambassador for Science and Technology from the Japanese side and Mr. Jaroslav Miller, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports from the Czech side.
Delegations focused on the exchange of current national priorities and approaches to science and research, information on programs of scientific and technical cooperation, including talks on other possibilities for future cooperation between the two countries in the field of science and technology.
The event featured lectures by scientists from both countries in the fields on Nano/Advanced Materials, Quantum Technology and Nuclear Technology.
The consultation was attended by officials and members from relevant ministries and institutions of both countries including Embassy of Japan in the Czech Republic, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA), Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), Tokyo University, RIKEN, Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) and JETRO Praha Office on Japanese side and Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT), Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA CR), Czech Science Foundation (GA CR), Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS), Palacký University Olomouc (UPOL), Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC), Research Centre Řež (CVR) from the Czech side.
The excursion in ELI Beamlines and Research Centre Řež took place on 9th June.
